OOC BIO

Victor BellIf one could live peacefully amongst all, then all could coincide in harmony. That’s the kind of spirit Orion Blake exuded. As a young lad, he was the kind of child that could play off by himself – which was good since he was born and in an orphanage almost as fast as he was born. He had known a few foster homes. Not all of them were horrible, but not every family was as sweet and kind as they presented themselves to be on first impression. Orion kept to himself anyway, entertaining himself with reading, running and learning karate and boxing from his favorite movies. His dream was to grow up, train and run his own gym.

When he was 13 was when he found a foster home worth living in. Dane Shivers was a single father who had lost his wife to cancer. He had had one son with her, Jeremy Shivers, 15. Upon first meeting, Jeremy and Orion hit it off very well. Jeremy was more artsy than Orion, but that didn’t stop them from hanging out. They often played video games together in their teen years. When it came time to move out, Jeremy waited until Orion was 18 before they moved out together and attended college in California.

Orion ended up with a Computer Science degree, but he still had not lost sight of his dream to open a gym, but money raising was not easy. He knew he would have to work toward it. His degree was helpful in getting him an IT job, even though it was lower rung Help Desk work. On the weekends and after work, he hit the gym, the weights and definitely the heavy bag. He took amateur fights to hone his skills as he waited for his big break.

I Feel the Need to Do the Deed

Sometimes, my Facebook account is a means to an end and sometimes it’s a laborious task of reading negativity that is beyond the realm of tolerance. I still go onto it every day as if I will find something new, but that’s wishful thinking. To balance out the blatant cries for attention, I often post really random things. Once, I even posted a story that went something like this:

“Why Sporks Are Stupid, a Short Story

Around a fire, six men sat, 2 with spoons to eat their chili, 2 with forks to eat their chili, and 2 with knives to eat raw animals like bad asses. One of the Spooners said, "If you were stranded out in the wilderness, what would you bring to eat food with? A spoon, a knife or a fork? Surely a spoon! It's the most logical!" The second Spooner agreed. The Forkers protested loudly, "No, no! A spoon cannot spear meat!" The Knifers continued to eat their raw meat without a word. One of the Spooners had a moment of creativity and said, "I know! I would put all three of them together to have the best of all worlds!" The second Spooner and the Forkers agreed loudly, cheering and raising their utensils to rejoice and clink them together. Then, the Knifers got up and knifed them.”

The moral of the story? Survival of the fittest, baby! Get out of the emo mold of old and into the bad ass of new! I’m tired of constant moping. Yes, we all have our down days, but we need to be more up than down. I understand sad posts every now and then, I have nothing against them and have them myself sometimes, but, seriously? Every day?

Today and earthquake hit Japan and a tsunami hit Hawaii. My prayers are with them. This is a cause to be sad, but it is a cause for us all to come together.

Don’t let life live you. Live your life.
